Disenchanting - being told anything and everything when hired and realizing it just ain't so.

Autonomy and self-reliance are allowed if not encouraged Benefits and bonuses are good, even if the salary is well below the industry standard.

Cons

Passive aggressive. Machevilain politics even at the associate level. Information technology is an ends unto itself - this leads to non-IT solutions to traditionally IT problems.

Amazing work/life balance, great pay, strong support from senior leadership, opportunities for job chance and promotion if you can go above and beyond.

Cons

Business managers run the company, so marketing is occasionally undervalued. Sometimes tenure is valued more than hard work or competency, but really nothing to lose sleep over.
