A shadow of its former self
Pros
Tutors need no qualifications or experience Flexible scheduling (in theory) You will be offering conversational English Reliably paid every week
Cons
Tutors who need no experience or qualifications Utterly nontransparent rating system - ratings dictate how much work is offered Some pretty poor quality lesson materials Low rate of pay with no chance of an increase An utterly unfair system whereby even if a student has booked a 60 minute lessons, if they don't turn up the tutor gets $1.70 and if they cancel even a minute before the class, $2. Tutors sign up to offer conversational English. May students expect IELTS, TOFEL etc training, not just in speaking, advanced grammar lessons, help with university applications etc etc. That's OK if the tutor wishes to do this but not all tutors can or want to particularly for this low rate of pay There is a feeling that this mismatch of expectation is exacerbated by the company's advertising material. The amount of work offered to many tutors has fallen dramatically in recent months
