Pros

I LOVE the flexibility that I have with my schedule, which works well with my other job and other activities I like to do. I enjoy speaking to people from around the world and learning things from them about their culture. And I definitely love being paid once a week!

Cons

Connection issues in trying to catch calls, especially with your regular students, who themselves have said they have had difficulty signing on. The rating system I do not care for, because I do not know how I am being rated or why my rating drops.

Pros

Gain TEFL teaching experience, talk to people all over the world, help others learn English, supplement your income or fund your travels to countries with low cost of living. Overall, Cambly has been a good experience for me. I've talked to many people with incredible backgrounds. I think a lot of what you get out of the experience is what you put in. It's unstructured English tutoring, but I always make an effort to ask students about their English goals and challenges, and I cater the conversation to what they want to talk about. More times than not, people just want to practice casual conversation or read news articles with me. It's very easy work, and it's provided me with some tutoring background that I can apply toward my TEFL certification and future English-teaching opportunities.

Cons

Low pay, technical/connection difficulties. It took 3 months for my application to be approved, and after I was approved, there was a technical problem that prevented me from tutoring for 2 additional months after my approval. To resolve the problem, it took 2 months of ongoing attempts to contact support- through email and social media- to get someone to fix it. Sometimes, the camera cuts out or disconnects (this is sometimes due to Cambly, but it's sometimes due to students' connections and/or equipment). Pay is low. If you talk the whole time, it's $10 an hour, but in actuality, it averages out to about $7.50-$8 an hour when you're just using PH time and don't have reservations.

Pros

Work from home would be all I can say.

Cons

You have to spend a lot of time online, waiting for a student. They give potential students a free 5 minutes, they are mostly unsuitable as students, as some English is required to develop. They can be kids messing about, or even men in bed!! If there is a poor connection, you can get blocked from work for 3 days, even when it is NOT your fault! Cambly do not have any other interest in making money, in my opinion. So tutors are exploited and some students too!
