      Flexible hours Opportunity to speak to an interesting and diverse range of students from around the world A lot of the students are a pleasure to teach - friendly and want to learn English

      Cons

      Pathetic pay Unpredictable, unfair and intentionally opaque tutor rating system that is heavily biased towards new tutors Have met plenty of students with unrealistic demands and some who are flat-out rude, one bad rating can ruin weeks of hard work. Big brother-style monitoring of lessons and communications between students and tutors.

      Pros

      Cambly is great for someone who wants to be able to choose their own schedule and make some extra money on the side of another part or full time job. I have mainly had great experiences with my students from all over the world.

      Cons

      The pay is terrible. Its 17c per minute, which works out at about $10 an hour. The thing is, that it is rare you get a full hour lesson. Most students do 15 minute or 30 minute lessons and you may not be fully booked for all of the hours you are available, so you're not paid for the time you are not doing a lesson. As well as this, if a student doesn't show up for a reservation you only get paid for 10 minutes. Equally, if a student is 5 minutes late for a class, and you have another booking straight after then you lose that 5 minutes of pay even though it wasn't your own fault.
