Pros

Good training program but it can be very taxing if you work in a pharmacy that is not managed very well.

Cons

Lots of people in and out in some stores there is a ton of turnover, in others people are there a long time.

Pros

CVS is a very stable company to work for during this economic turn down. Decent pay. Amazing health benifits. Customer is ALWAYS right.

Cons

CVS's success as a company comes from it's phamacy, the success from it's front store business comes from cutting hours and increasing demands from employees. It is impossible to complete all the task vital to running the store. Every day you're playing catch up for the week before. Although job security and pay help offset the high demand, in order to truely succeed and grow with the company you have to give up your life. You work EVERY! holiday, 50+hours a week with no breaks and 10-15min lunches even though you have to clock out for 1/2 or 1 hour lunch. There is no recognition for a job well done. CVS is an extremely stressful place to work, however, if life/work balance isn't nearly as important as job security, it is worth the hair lose.

Pros

I get much enjoyment out of my job when I can truly help someone and know that they appreciate the work I put in to help them. In my store, I'm lucky enough to work under a wonderful PIC and a fairly strong support staff.

Cons

You work with people's medications in stressful conditions because you are constantly understaffed. Aside from your immediate pharmacy supervisor, the negative respect that rains down from upper level management is disgusting. Even when are pharmacy scores are flawless we get emails about one thing or another that the district/pharmacy/area managers are not happy with. Respect doesn't exist in this company. If you couple that lack of respect from management with the way customers treat you, then you are getting it from both sides. I don't expect to get that much respect when working retail. However, we have many customers who are repeat complainers, even when nothing is wrong. They will call corporate to complain about something and corporate will give them a gift card. Talk about reinforcing behavior.
