Pros

when i first started cvs 9 years ago, it was a wonderful company to work for. we got xmas bonuses, benefits were awesome and then they started getting more and more money hungry. such a shame

Cons

management at the store i worked at was terrible, the dm was even worse. the hours the store is opened is ridiculous for the area of town it is in and they are even worse during the holidays. store was robbed twice in less then a month and corporate said that was not enough to get a security guard. they would not allow one until the store lost more money than it would take to pay a guard, they wouldnt want to lose money to keep their employee's safe.

Pros

My particular store is fairly lax, my store manager is easier to work for, in that he is very approachable and tries to work with individuals to avoid conflict and personal problems.

Cons

Having an easy going boss often leaves the staff vulnerable to bad scheduling (the staff making their own schedules, being late, calling out, not showing, or leaving early), also staff that don't share in the workload, or are in general bad employees are not properly reprimanded - or aren't fired - making those more reliable employees have to work a lot harder and regularly stay over their shift or come in early to cover others. On the corporate level - it is far more pathetic and unpleasant - we have a lot of superfluous upper management - that in essence do the job that maybe one or two people could do. They waste time and money with idiotic marketing strategies that laughably appeal to no one (and by that i mean customers literally laugh at their obvious confusion tactics, and pathetic promotions). They cut our hours literally every month by more and more - leaving our already stressed staff, even more understaffed - and making customers angry because of long lines, and no one being available to assist on the floor. They give us pathetic 2% annual raises that equal maybe a couple of dollars more a WEEK. I personally can't even afford to have health benefits, and I work in a pharmacy (pathetic!). They do not recognize employees who work hard - but consistently send insensitive emails or messages complaining and threatening employees who get overtime (because they had to cover someone who called out - and we have no one else on the payroll to cover thanks to our cut hours!) They do not communicate with employees well - and often make ridiculous demands, or increase the services we offer that increase workload and stress for everyone- without increasing pay, hours or employees. All in all - there is a level of disrespect, and disregard that the grunts of the company (the people who do ALL of the work that CVS profits from!) receive from upper management that is unconscionable... our store doesn't even have a proper breakroom - it's more or less an afterthought that is shoved into the dirty, dim stockroom with company reports about theft and profits, and cashier reports taped to a delightful cinderblock wall, that is your view and momentary escape from being a public punching bag, on your feet for 8 hours a day. My advice to those looking for jobs - avoid this and other corporations like it - the meager pay you get for wasting the hours of your life for this disrespectful company isn't worth it... not for part or full time.

Pros

Benefit package is good. Holiday pay.

Cons

Open most days, lack of lunch for salaried pharmacist. Hard to hire someone in at a competitive rate without hassle.
