      Good work life balance, but not a great place to bring your career to the next level

      Pros

      Great work life balance, generally stress free work environment.

      Cons

      Narrow job responsibilities, lack of career development, lack of trust in employees, lack of communication, lack of interaction with those outside of your department, large company feel (i.e. easy to get lost in the shuffle) and sub par benefits. Most of this varies greatly from depending on department.

      Pretty dissatisfied. Failing up is a constant, so keep your head down, earn your pay and do enough to satisfy your job.

      Cant think of much right now, pretty unsatisfying work environment

      Cons

      Hard work is not rewarded, lazy work is not punished so no difference between a hard worker and the opposite. No upward movement, and one can fail up. Generally a lousy place to work with no suppoprt from management. Understand the commitment to making money by all means but sometimes one has to look at the attitudes towards those making the money for the company, if you run them down the money stops coming

      Salaries were decent, as of a few years ago, but have taken a hit since the economic downturn.

      Cons

      I cannot imagine a company that takes advantage of their managers more than CVS. When an ass't mgr leaves the company or is promoted, that position may not be filled for 2-4 months. This leaves managers working 30,60,90 or more days straight, w/out a day off! 70-90 hours/wk. CVS has made a conscious decision to use managers to try to save on payroll. This company, literally, has no concern for the personal lives of their employees.
