      Poor compensation, atrocious work life balance if stuck in a wrong division

      Pros

      Good office location. Some divisions have a great learning opportunity. Corporate ratings provides a lot of learning.Option to move between divisions but that is only on paper.

      Cons

      CRISIL was once a company with a lot of focus on analytical rigour. But it is waning now. Work life balance is ridiculous in some divisions which has resulted in a lot of attrition. Bosses are far from execution difficulties faced by the team. Deadlines are stretched on most occasions and people burning midnight oil is very common. People are supposed to spend weekends working in some divisions. Yelling is common. Salaries are below par. Limited perks for employees. Medical insurance for dependent parents is borne by employees which was earlier paid by CRISIL.

      Pros

      Difficult to really think of a lot of pros, but the biggest one is "brand value". CRISIL continues to have a good reputation in the market. That is what the management is capitalizing on. And that is exactly what an employee can benefit from, in a short term. That said, in my honest opinion, it is still doing a better job at Ratings, than the domestic counterparts.

      Cons

      Increased focus towards client retention. This has led to reduced focus on analytics. Recent drives in the organization focus on standardization, which is not a bad idea, but it loses the essence of an individual analyst's observations. It's mechanical. And CRISIL is encouraging robots.
