An Executive blinded by themselves

Pros

There are many, just not feeling them right now. This latest restructure has been a woefully executed process. Change happens, it's often not fun but necessary. How you implement change is a leadership litmus test. A test this CEO and executive have failed.

Cons

No bottom line growth in years under the leadership of an exec and BG exec management who've contentedly protected their own interests while failing to support, understand or capitalize on growth outside of their pet focus areas. Leading to more restructuring...opportunity to make impactful change....but no.... different structure, same people, new titles, appointing the same buddies to roles around them. If these people failed to perform, lead and grow the business in their previous roles, why are they still tasked with this responsibility?

Pros

CH2M is a global employee-owned enterprise with many offices and business groups. Work sharing among offices, flexible working hours, 9/80 schedule, good procedures and guidelines to ensure high work quality.

Cons

Globally, too many changes without focused strategy. The current structure does not value the little working staff who are actually bring in the money to pay for all the overhead cluster at upper levels. Beware of Houston, TX office: New management came in last year. They have been bringing their ex-coworkers instead of focusing on bringing on new projects. Their management strategy is not defined or communicated to the employees. No open office communication, which is not the ch2m way. The hiring approaches are unprofessional and questionable. Many job requisitions are being posted only after the candidates are already determined. Most newly hired positions are expensive overhead, while the ones paying the price are those little working staff regardless how talented they are.

Pros

flexible work schedule, you can work 9-9-9-9-4 for half day Friday's which is pretty nice nice people, some very experienced people to work with nice office, in very nice part of the city with great after work opportunities

Cons

plans to outsource Engineering Design to Poland, so little growth for true design engineers risk adverse, not willing to take on complicated/challenging projects - this is a new development of the current CEO unwilling to give equal opportunity to employees with equal education and experience

Thanks for writing about work your experience at CH2M. We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed our company culture and a flexible work schedule. Creating exciting work opportunities for our employees and delivering quality and value for our clients are two things we think are critical for our culture, and that doesn’t change with our global design center model. In fact, we’re offering our clients more consistent quality, and our design engineers have greater opportunity to work on more complex challenges.
