Pros

Work life balance - I was able to work from home

Cons

Upper management has no clue what is happening with employees or their career growth. They are asking managers to do their day job which is 60+ hours a week and also manage huge teams.

Pros

The only thing that has kept me around is a small core of good people that actually work on projects.

Cons

Delusional mid and upper management Jacobs influx Cronyism in hiring practices for upper level staff Hiring upper level staff under "created" roles Fires employees with open ethics complaints Keeps high level people around on overhead while laying off people that are billable working on projects

We pride ourselves on being an ethical company and we encourage all employees to speak up about any concerns about behaviors that are inconsistent with our values. Please get in touch with your ethics ambassador or contact the CH2M Ethics Hotline. We must keep an eye out for behaviors that don’t add to the strong, vibrant culture we have here and welcome any assistance in doing so. Thanks, Matt

Pros

Finding 20 word minimum for the Pros was one of the hardest tasks in my life.... Well I guess the pro about CH2m in Houston is the flexible time due to lack of work.

Cons

They always bragged about the “culture”, ethics and yellow book, well throw all of these in the garbage with the reign of the CEO and most recently the president of O&G. If you are not chargeable you go home and charge on your PTO, if you are out of PTO hours you are laid off – of course this does not apply to the fourth floor dinosaurs. In some situations, they do not pay you when you work over time even when it is charged to the client. They promised to have 6% match 401K then they lowered it to 3% and it is paid by company stocks which cannot be exchanged to other stocks. Employees see their stocks loosing 50% of its value without being able to exchange it. They promise bonus to some grades of employees to find out that only the dinosaurs residing on the 4th floor are the true recipient of bonuses. In the last 2 years no one received true raises except the dinosaurs on the 4th floor. When upper managements and VP are confronted with all unethical issues going on, their answer is always to leave it if you do not like it. Worst of all the new management promised to bring a lot of work when they joined, so far this office has no backlogs and it is surviving on old projects acquired during the previous management. Everyone I know in the Houston office is looking to leave but stuck with CH2m due to the tough job market in Houston, I do not see this place surviving when oil and gas market picks up.
