Would NOT recommend working for CBRE

Pros

-Got a lot of experience quick in many different fields of sustainability. -Flexibility with hours and working remotely

Cons

-Not well staffed and management/client will expect that everything gets done regardless of how over worked/under staffed a program may be. -Outside hiring instead of promoting qualified staff- which leads to a high turn over rate. -Management takes advantage of staff (for example I was expected to spend 30+ hours of time training in the manager I directly report to, and manage my workload in addition to supporting the new manager with their workload) -Management enabled client in scope creep- saying that we should never say no to a client regardless the ask and the amount of time required. -Denied bonus despite not being able to provide reason/ or requirements to receive annual bonus.

Pros

Solid company, pay and benefits. Met some really fantastic hardworking people who were passionate about what they did. I would still be employed with them if it wasn't for the gross mishandling of the account I was on.

Cons

Be very careful in the interview process. Ask A LOT of questions about the account you agree to work on. Some are fantastic and others like the one I was on are not. High turnover on account, no one is honest and upfront about the dysfunction within the account. You walk you thinking "what did I just sign up for". Sadly HR was no help with numerous attempts of trying to rectify the issues or trying to transfer. The job took a massive told on my mental and physical health. No job is worth what I was put through.

Pros

Remote Position Nice Office and Good Location Free Coffee

Cons

Culture of high turnover. The interviewers and the staff who do the onboarding tell how great the training is. You are promised a training approach that is complete and will ensure you get off to a good start. Instead its short, incomplete and doesn't live to those promises. They dump the properties on you. The people assigned to train you are instructed to spend minimal or no time with you. They are given too much work themselves, they feel more compelled to get back to their own work. These individuals have little time for questions. It leaves you in a situation where learn it yourself, work long hours or get tired of it and leave. It depends how long you can tolerate it. A Controller and a Senior Accountant had left after I joined the team. The vast majority of the people leave within a year or less. Most salaried Accountants work a lot of overtime and don't get paid for it. This is consensus I learned from quite a few Accountant who currently work at CBRE. The company offshored their Financial Operations to India, which has turned into a mess, even though the company labels it a success. Its was a difficult situation to work with since you depended on their work.
