Pros

Good place to start your accounting career not in public accounting. Coworkers are decent and mostly helpful. Generous vacation (if your workload ever allows you to take it).

Cons

Pay rates are well below industry average, heck even below the bottom 25%. High, high turnover. Poor training. Bottom of the barrel heath benefits. A 1.5% 401K match, again, well below average. Workload always increases, your pay does not.

Pros

The People: I walked away with genuine, lasting friendships. There are some incredible individuals in the trenches who make the day-to-day bearable. The Perks: You’ll get a free t-shirt every now and again. (Though, unfortunately, you can’t pay rent with cotton blends.)

Cons

Toxic Culture: The environment is defined by a blatant "boys' club" mentality. If you aren’t part of the inner circle, don’t expect your voice to be heard or your contributions to be valued. Zero Accountability: Leadership seems more interested in protecting the status quo than addressing internal issues. Mistakes are deflected, and there is no mechanism for holding management accountable for their behavior or performance. Stagnant Support: The company has fallen lightyears behind the industry standard for employee support. There is little to no investment in professional development, mental health, or modern workplace flexibility. Low Compensation: The pay bands are significantly below market value. You are expected to provide high level output for "budget" wages, with no clear path for raises that keep up with inflation, let alone your actual worth.
