Good place to work, but LOTS of inertia

Pros

Extremely interesting and complex product. Opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience. Friendly, hard-working people. Paid overtime.

Cons

CAE's history as a flight simulator manufacturing company still shows in its approach to management and processes. They try to put in place new S/W processes, but project delivery dates still drive priorities. There is a lot of rushing and panic to chase deadlines. Projects get started already behind schedule. Waves of layoffs over the last few years.

Overtime paid. Good assurance plan. Possibility to travel for work around the globe. Lots of challenge.

Cons

Week is more around 46-50 hours. The company didn't see themselves as a software company, so the management is not perfectly aligned with the software process used by the employees. Pressure can be quite high some times.
