Overall - wonderful and rewarding experience, but company culture and employee retention on a steep and critical dive
Pros
great industry to work in; attracts the brightest and most talented candidates; wonderful people (those that survive the ongoing layoffs); lots of interesting challenges and experiences - really helps you grow in terms of knowledge and experience; broad exposure to multiple vendors/suppliers; large player with a lot of recognition and credibility; very diverse products and services; competitive salaries; used to be a wonderful place to work with a sense of family - this is non-existent today
Cons
You never know when your time is up (especially if you've been there for > 10 yrs); always focused on cost-cutting; management-heavy; little if not zero focus on employee morale/development; lack of equality in terms of cross-departmental practices (e.g. organizational structure/ratio of staff/management); used to be very family-oriented and socially responsible - now it's just a large business with a strict corporate mindset; don't work here if you think you can make a long-term career commitment; highly dependent on government grants and slaves to ridiculous Quebec OLF policies - after all, this is an international company!; lots of turn-over at all levels; change for the sake of change - no real purpose or plan; etc.
