the most stressful teaching job I've ever had.
Pros
The children were just delightful.
Cons
All day, I was expected to juggle supervision of the kids with a mountain of paperwork. If I didn't get the paperwork done, the supervisors complained. If I tried to get the paperwork done, that left enough time for a child to get hurt. Then I had to fill out still another document for the child who got hurt. There was hardly a day without a crisis taking place at least once. One day, I was responsible for overseeing twenty children in naptime with no other adult in the room. Three children clamored to go to the restroom down the hall. I tried to find another adult to escort them to the restroom, but the neighboring toddler room was being left unsupervised. So, rather than letting them urinate on themselves, I let them go. State regulations said that they needed another adult to escort them to the restroom, so I was fired. The toddler teachers who left their entire room unsupervised are still there. The toddlers who pick up children by the collar, carry children by one arm, and slap children in the face are still there. But I got fired because I didn't want three children to urinate on themselves.
