Pros
Amazing quality of life Great benefits - but they are getting worse as years go by Interesting co-workers Flexible, accommodating Great with parental leave (both male and female - women get 12 weeks , men get 8 weeks) Dynamic, exciting, youthful working environment BU can become your family, your home Get a free masters! If you don't it's not a good place to work - salaries are way below industry norms
Cons
Incredibly low pay - you'll be behind your peers the longer you stay Incredibly low raises (1-2%) No cost of living or inflation increase No bonus potential Very little room for growth or movement Some departments are terrible to work for, some are amazing - not consistent Easy to get stuck here - your career and income stalls BU wants to be progressive, but it's still run by old, rich, white men who aren't progressive As a result, very little progressive benefits - work from home, work remotely, etc. The new strategy at BU is to get the older people making good money (who've been here for decades back when BU gave real raises) and replace them with younger kids and pay them nothing (30-40k) and slowly remove benefits - 401K matching, health care etc. It may not be a great place to work in the future. There is a ton of potential here but BU is on the brink.
