Pros

Great opportunity to learn and grow in a managerial role. Lots of experience in various different clinical areas, and lots of time spent working directly with patients.

Cons

Stressful working environment and little to no support from higher-level administrators. Also under-compensated with the understanding that you will use the tuition remission benefit.

Pros

In the department of chemistry at Boston University, the professors and students are all kind and supportive people that will motivate you to learn and grow as a Ph.D. Student and Candidate.

Cons

Despite a new union contract, the pay and benefits are horribly low. Boston is a VERY expensive city and living on a Ph.D. stipend is extremely difficult. Of course, the money should not be your reason to pursue a Ph.D. anywhere, but it would still be nice to not have to experience such high financial stress.
