Pros

Time off (if you're allowed to use it is another story) and tuition remission (again, if you're allowed to use it is another story). I gave 2 stars because of other offices I've worked in at BU have been good, just not my current office (that actually deserves 0 stars)

Cons

I've worked in several different offices at BU. Some are good, others... not so much. Beware of student service jobs, as those are like working as customer service agents in a call center. Very little autonomy in these roles, similar to retail types of jobs where you're told when you can go to lunch, when you can take a bathroom break, etc. I wouldn't recommend it if you're over the age of 18 and have already done the retail/service industry jobs and are looking for a more meaningful, professional position.

Pros

Good benefits and perks, decent compensation

Cons

You are viewed as a number, and as immediately replaceable. Communication is terrible and inconsistent. Management and leadership ignore questions and don't clarify expectations for staff. They are willing to sacrifice student experience and their own "valued" employees to preserve their fragile existence as an over-priced, dictatorial, wannabe Ivy league institution. They refused to apply any lessons on flexibility learned over the course of the pandemic, and forced non-student-facing employees who had worked remotely for over a year back to the office for no reason other than to make sure students believe that they are a "residential" campus. They don't care about you, they only care about their pocketbook, and damn the consequences.
