Pros

Benefits and pay seem enough for a grad student. Job demands depend largely on the chosen advisor. Oppurtunites often integrate well with classwork and personal interest.

Cons

A small increase of salary would go a long way living in expensive Boston.

Pros

Amazing benefits: matching 403b, health, dental. Classes are nearly free (90% off after taxes, for 2 classes/semester). Environment and culture can vary greatly. In small departments, can be very personal and fun. In large ones you can get pretty lost.

Cons

This place has so many employees that it takes forever to get buy-in to do much of anything. I spend more time getting buy-in than I do getting things done.
