Pros

Fair-to-good entry level compensation compared to every other Research Assistant salary I have seen online and heard through word of mouth at Boston Hospitals. I started at $20/hr (with no experience) within 6 months got made a full time employee and got a raise to $21/hr after a year and a half. I have a friend who is a Research Assistant II at BGW and they make significantly less than this, which is sad. Good benefits: -Tuition remission to BU excluding class fees which end up being around ($75-$250) depending on which courses you take. -Good retirement matching (although I foolishly never took advantage of this)

Cons

-HR is slow as molasses -HR Training felt like a waste of time. When asked specific questions, participants are directed to "double check with someone in the department" or "check online" It was basically a four hour overview of information that can be found online. -Classes available for tuition remission at BU can be spotty/limited depending on what you want to learn and are not consistent every year (EX: Taking med school prereqs and working full time is difficult. BU does a pretty weak job of offering night courses consistently during the academic year, and forget about taking night Physics/Chem/Orgo/Bio classes during summer through BU. There aren't any.)
