Pros

Lots of smart and driven people in a non-competitive environment. The research groups are all very strong in their respective specialties.

Cons

Upon being accepted, the physics department promises a lot of opportunities in getting accepted in the various research groups. In reality, the professors can be very pick and non-transparent when it comes to letting people know if they have a chance.

Pros

There is a lot of research collaboration within the university by principle investigators

Cons

Little room for advancement unless you have a graduate level degree
