extremely good benefits, general job security, excellent community of faculty and staff (very rarely have I encountered an unprofessional person), generally financially empowered by departments' budgets to get supplies and resources that are needed

Cons

large organization sometimes makes communication hard, not intimately involved with the larger operations or aware of the department's structure all the time

Low pay for graduate fellows (the way it is everywhere). Great education though!
