Pros

There were a lot of pros, particularly the salary was competitive, there is a strong union presence and you get additional paid days of for holiday closures.

Cons

The commute into the city if you are living outside of it is definitely a con. Opportunity for growth in my particular department was also minimal, which led to my resignation.

Pros

20 vacation days/year PLUS Intersession (the week between Christmas & New Years) AND 11 add'l holidays (not including Christmas/New Years) Generous sick time Outstanding retirement package, vests immediately Salary is competitive with corporate environments 2-3% raise each year is typical There are tons of job openings to choose from if you need a change, but want to stay at BU Laidback environment Low stress 35 hour workweek Access to music school practice rooms Orientation includes 2 free tickets to the Huntington Theatre and BU sports games Right on the green line

Cons

Nearly an hour T ride from North Station, for those who take the train in Culture is different from department to department and manager to manager People tend to stay forever, so the atmosphere can start to feel a little stale
