Pros

The Photonic Center is designed to be a place where engineer and scientist mingle together. They share the same space and resources and certainly help to promote collaboration. Students can have easy access to seminars and colloquiums from other departments that took place in the same building. There are core facilities in the building open for everybody.

Cons

In such a large place, it's notoriously slow to get things done. Paperwork, meeting one person after another, and you need to know the right person to ask when you encounter problems or you just need to figure it out yourself. Small and crowded lab spaces because there are many people in one building.

Pros

Well-funded university to conduct research, good benefits, and good support for research.

Cons

Expensive to park and, like any university, a lot of red-tape to get anything accomplished.
