Pros

Good support for research at higher levels of administration. Development staff assistance with locating grants. Some protection from excessive service and teaching.

Cons

Extreme lack of understanding of tenure track vs clinical track responsibilities and performance measures fosters a competitive and resentful work environment. Only certain types of research and scholarly work are supported despite hiring faculty who already have a research program. Promises made in offer letters are not fulfilled. Bitterness between faculty leads to undermining and sabotage. Resources are inconsistently made available to faculty.
