Pros

Bodybuilding.com harvests a close culture. The majority of coworkers I have are very friendly and easy to work with. They do a lot for the community which is nice to be a part of and give the company respect in the treasure valley. The company mission is really easy to get behind and support because you see people becoming their best self and you want to be a part of that. They have fun employee benefits such as a gym reimbursement program and book reading program.

Cons

Spends outrageous amounts on employee programs and events instead of investing in employee potential. Only promote people that say 'yes' to whatever idea executives come up with and then they don't take an honest 'no' into account and don't understand when their idea fails because they become so fixated on one thing and don't think about the whole picture, it's elementary. Multiple people refer to it as a 'bro club' and the company is primarily dominated by males (seems males earn a higher salary as well from discussions I have been a part of). Engineering department is difficult to work in, they give no work life balance, have unmanageable deadlines, we often spend late nights and weekends around the holidays trying to meet unrealistic goals. Not only does engineering struggle (which is a very large amount of employees), the HR department is not a good support for the rest of the company. They make a lot of inconsistent decisions that affect the rest of the company. The HR area has had so many employees quit since I have been here and the only people who seem to have some knowledge of HR and are professional leave to a better opportunity. I have been 'lucky' enough to collaborate with some members of the hr team to plan a company event and it was unbelievable. Sad that this start up with so much potential is being drowned by horrible management.

Great for now but probably not for the long term

Pros

Great and unique company. Great benefits and a really fun environment to work. They really try and focus and help motivate employees to embody a healthy lifestyle by having all sorts of rewards programs for fitness activities and an onsite gym. It's really great to work for a company where the customer isn't just a dollar, but an actual person who can benefit from the information and eventually products available on the site.

Cons

Great company but not really structured for a longevity career type place to work. Unfortunately a lot of employees have to use Bodybuilding.com as a stepping stone to move onto something else. Company culture is unique, but cannot compensate for lower wages. Also, management needs to be trained on how to be managers. Employees are promoted because they embody the culture, but not trained how to manage and lead a team.

Pros

Great benefits, great people, and great opportunity outside of customer service.

Cons

Personal growth and promotions are hard to come by unless you are a personal friend of the boss. I worked in customer service for over 6 years, and felt disrespected instead of valued for my insight. Anywhere in the company is wonderful, except CS. HR is useless when making legitimate managerial complaints, and will rarely take the side of the employee. Time-off used to be easy to get, but leadership in customer service changed, so that changed as well.
