Pros

Lots of opportunity if you can find a niche, people really do want to do the best science and what is best for patients.

Cons

Ill defined roles leads to toxic turf wars and junior staff used in political fights of upper management. Neuro is risky and Biogen doesn't have the long-term revenue to keep all these programs afloat. Upper management is laser focused on short-term profits and operating expenses.

Pros

My favorite reason for working here is 100% the people. Everyone is extremely open to helping, answering questions, and teaching you how to do things as you go. Lots of independence each day as far as what you want to do, in what order, etc.; management is fairly hands-off unless something needs a quick turnaround. It is also great to work alongside a diverse group of individuals who are very skilled at their jobs and who you can rely on, especially when business need is high. PTO: 16 days starting out (pro-rated for first year), 5 personal days, 80 hours of sick time Benefits: Great vision insurance, medical, dental, etc. Pay: Raise each year (based on performance), LTI Stock each year as well.

Cons

My least favorite part of working at Biogen is how onboarding is handled. At least for when I was hired in 2022, the onboarding process for my actual position was very minimal and was very much left up to me to reach out and decide what I needed to train on. This isn't a huge drawback as once you get into the swing of things, that problem goes away, but it is VERY common for new hires to not really be given any specifics on what they will train on, what management expects from them, etc. I've heard that a new process is being developed so this may be addressed by that as well.

Pros

I like working here. It’s challenging and fast paced, and I’ve found lots of opportunities to stretch and grow.

Cons

Leaders do not have a cohesive vision or agree about priorities. Decisions happen either very slowly or so quickly that people are not informed in strategy pivots. Siloed decision-making and lack of communication has lead to so many high priority projects that key stakeholders are unavailable or overwhelmed and burnt out. Leadership has not responded well to unfavorable news from regulators on a number of products.
