Pros

Salary and benefits, subsidized parking garage, social hour, shutdown between Christmas and New Year, Biogen previously had a stellar reputation that still looks good on a CV.

Cons

That ridiculous open space concept, politics, lack of team mindset, too many silos, poor managers, the CEO cares only about the stockholders (not the patients or employees). Promotions are based solely on who you know.

Pros

Flexible hours are a nice perk, although... (see Cons).

Cons

Flexible hours means that while you're able to work from home or take care of personal appointments, you're also expected to work way above the average 40-hour work week. Intense politics and favoritism leads to high attrition of talent, tight resources, and politicking to curry favors and promotions instead of actual work integrity and talent.

Pros

Great benefits and overall compensation (especially . Nice work environment (offices, cafe, etc.) but there are some buildings that are very dated (depressing cube environment).

Cons

Has become a typical BIG PHARMA corporation. Bureaucratic, top heavy (there seem to be a lot of VPs), the culture is very insular, senior management seems very self interested. No work/life balance - expectations are high if you want to succeed (HR person emphasized this "...since we are a premium employer"). Stability is gone - major layoffs in 2011 and 2015 (localized layoff in R&D in 2014).
