      High Rewards, High Price

      Pros

      Lots of great benefits; stable company; good opportunity if you're based near Cambridge; not in RTP or San Diego

      Cons

      Very cut-throat and non-supportive culture; young marketing teams with high turnover; Sales teams are full of good people, but some grandfathered in from elsewhere with lots of baggage and sense of entitlements.

      Pros

      Good pay and benefits. Individual therapeutics areas retain small biotech feel. Transparency in corporate goals and objectives and safety in that they want the company to stay independent and be the best it can be. Strong pipeline and future revenue potential.

      Cons

      Managers who do a good job but treat those under them with disrespect and contempt continue to be rewarded as good managers.

      Pros

      Benefits are still good, but appear to be chipped away at. Pipeline does appear to be improving as the number of Phase 3 clinical trials has increased in the last couple of years.

      Cons

      Senior leadership in Cambridge, MA is far too detached from ground truth in RTP, NC where a vast majority of manufacturing occurs. Decision making has continually been stripped away from mid-level or frontline, on-site leadership and pushed up to a fewer number of more senior leaders at headequarters in MA. This has led to disempowerment and a growing sense of impotence for NC based management. Additionally, there is no feedback mechanism for these MA based leaders to evaluate if the decisions they are making are reaching the right people in all the groups. As a result, cross-functional cooperation and efficiency has suffered greatly. Work/life balance is horrible whith few, if any, positions lost to attrition are back-filled.
