Pros

The benefits are very good. There's quite a bit of movement within the company, so if you're willing to slide into whatever position needs filling, you can work your way up the chain. The Cottonwood area is nice and the view of the mountains is lovely. The executives are accessable and, for the most part, down-to-earth.

Cons

The pay is unremarkable, to say the least. Hourly employees might appreciate it if there were sick time that's separate from PTO. Seating arrangements are strangly close and offer little privacy. It feels like different areas of the company are strongly polarized in terms of how knowlegable and dedicated the employees are; some areas are excellent while other areas seem to be filled with people coasting through life. So if you want a challenging environment where standards are high and deep insights are valued, look elsewhere. I think Overstock.com would a good place to get ahead by being an attaboy or a personal friend of somebody, if that's your preferred method of career advancement.

Pros

Good pay, really nice and understanding management. A cubicle with a window view. I can't stress how much better that made my job. Everyone trusts eachother in my department, which is huge as well. I never felt like my opinion didn't matter or was flat out wrong. The training was also incredibly thorough and well done so that I learned my job well instead of quickly.

Cons

Overstock.com is a glorified outlet store. As much as we try to push Worldstock, it is still hard for me to be passionate about working here. As a company we add nothing to the world at large. Sure overstock.com provides jobs in Salt Lake, and some revenue to the area, but besides that we aren't valuable contributers to society. On the one hand I like the idea of cutting out the middle man (the retail store seems like an antiquated concept), but on the other, we are actively engaged in the process of hurting local businesses. How do we reconcile this? I would bet that the vast majority consider their jobs at overstock just that, jobs, and nothing more. If there is a way to change this then that would be the only way to get people to truly believe in Overstock.com
