A different company to work for--in a good way!

Pros

Work/Life balance is good. Management treats employees as resources. They generally weed out the back-stabbing jerks that many companies promote. There is a good sense of "we're all in this together" that I find refreshing. Overall, it is a professional environment that rewards you for your contribution to the team.

Cons

Due to the quickly changing nature of retail sales, projects are sometimes delayed or discarded because a higher-priority request displaces it. It keeps things interesting, but it can also be frustrating to not complete projects that you have invested a lot of time. It's a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.

Semi-decent pay, good people, good benefits, seemingly decent job security.

Cons

Did not get a raise last year and my cost of living has tripled. I've been passed over for a well deserved promotion more than once.

Pros

Very casual and comfortable atmosphere. Has a good benefits package. Reasonably good teaching environment supported by an internally developed on-line university, which is constantly improving.

Cons

Almost no potential for career advancement. Poor leadership support from management. Management strongly embraces a "Don't make waves" environment. Essentially no opportunities to provide feedback for management (this is the first time) or internal support departments.
