Pros

The culture here is great, everyone is accepted and pretty much everyone from every walk of life has or will work here. I feel respected and like I really do have a family here. Opportunities for advancement are everywehere. I started out in customer service and was promoted right out of training. Good benefits, lots of PTO, easy to get time off (as long as it's not 4th quarter :) very flexible with schedules, they have worked around my "single mom schedule" countless times. Many new learning opportunities and easy to get feedback where it's needed. There is a lot of overtime opportunities during the holidays. Many company sponsored events, Lagoon day, concerts, parties. Also lots of fun things always going on in the office.

Cons

Sometimes they go on what seems like "firing sprees" and you don't know why or who they are targeting. It makes you nervous for weeks that you're next. Bonuses need to make sense. You do mediocre business one year and get a huge bonus and then the next year, your business exceeds everyone's expectations and your bonus is 1/3 of what it was last year(??). Upper management has a habit of holding meetings where they tell you how amazing you did and how much money you made for them and in the very next breath, they will tell you how they're cutting PTO hours or how there's not going to be any raises this year. Good thing we made all that money for them... The pat on the back is getting old, we have families to raise too. You don't get paid the standard even with the cost of living constantly rising. I know many people in customer service that have had to go on food stamps and utility assistance.

Pros

I have been here since 10/09/2009 and have already moved up, hopefully will continue too! Love the people and it is such a great job! We stay busy but all the while have fun!

Cons

The 24/7 chat team just seems to ruin everything, they cause more problems then they solve. I'm tempt and don't know if I'll be perminate.

Pros

Fun and fast-paced! Plenty of work to do - never bored! Relaxed, yet hard-working environment that encourages others to get involved. Management places a lot of trust in the different teams and I feel that encourages active involement on their parts.

Cons

Lots of reporting that could be consolidated as well as made more actionable. The on-boarding process for new hires could be more detailed and better illustrated - with all of the vernacular that is unique to Overstock it can be a steep learning curve for some resulting in delayed hiring effectiveness for the company.
