So Much Potential

Pros

You will work with some of the best people in the world. Overstock attracts a lot of good people based on name alone. The "macro" culture is really awesome. They are accepting, energetic, and fun. Lots of great events/activities.

Cons

Pretty much everyone on the VP and SVP levels are unqualified. Most attained their position through extreme nepotism. The great "macro" culture is undone by daily interactions with leadership. You will feel like you are walking on eggshell, you will not feel empowered to do your job. There is an extreme lack of strategy.

Pros

I used to love my job. Some great people that became like family. Laid back environment and quite a fun place to work. In the beginning years there, I was so happy to get up and go in everyday. I felt like I knew my job well, and felt appreciated.

Cons

The last two years I would get anxiety going in to work. I was pulled in every direction all day then was told productivity wasn't good enough. I wasn't sure what my role was anymore. I'm surprised we weren't asked to clean the bathroom at points in the day since the job I was hired to do took the back seat to assist the managers and literally anyone else that needed us to do their work. I felt overworked and grossly underpaid and underappreciated. Those who were close to the supervisor got special treatment. They fired people who helped them grow because of their tenure. They would rather pay less money to those who screw up and don't show up, than to pay good employees what they deserved. High school politics and idiots running the place. You will never know what the direction is that given day since it changes hourly.

Pros

Personally I loved my co-workers on my team. Also I had one of the best managers I have ever had. Because of this it was very enjoyable to show up for work every day.

Cons

Outside of my team and manager the environment was very harsh and disrespectful. Everyone threatens you to get things done. It's like everyone thinks they have the power to fire you at will. The company is loosing sight on what is important. Taking care of their employees is on the back burner. They say compensation is competitive but it is far from it. I saw many people leave (including myself) for jobs that offered far better pay and benefits then them.
