DSO-don’t

Pros

Hybrid work schedule. Decent amount of time off for holidays.

Cons

Promotions are determined by friendships, not skills. Diversity is nonexistent. Leadership is a joke. DSO was supposed to remove middle management and empower the employees at the lowest level but now we have more managers than ever.

Pros

Telecommuting options available, but apparently in my department for senior staff only. Lots of employee resource groups. Great cafeteria. 16 volunteer hours.

Cons

Like to be bullied? Like management & HR to do nothing about it? Then Bayer is the place for you.

Some good people, awful culture

Pros

There are some genuine good people who work there.

Cons

Where to begin, Sr. leadership is lost and doesn't know where it wants to go. Bayer wants to identify as a German pharma company but doesn't realize it is insignificant in the pharma world and its positive bottom line comes from American and Brazlilian farmers. Bayer is a company that announces record earnings but the next day announces a five month delay in cola pay increase...nothing like waiting until the last minute. Bayer is a place that promotes based on whose in the right group. If you're not, you are screwed. Sure positions will be posted and be "competitive" in the hiring process, but reality is the person who gets the role was slated for it before the job description was even posted. Bayer is a place that will also focus solely on DEI, but doesn't actually do anything to develop talent. So, while their heart my be in the right place for DEI, they are setting folks up for failure due to no development. Bayer is a company that doesn't believe in salary increases aside from the COLA...if you earn it because they call it a "merit" increase. Bayer is a company that caters to and cuddles it's German workforce while forsaking everyone else.
