Pros
- Not a whole lot of hours - the perfect job to fill in the gaps. - Scheduling is extremely flexible - work around your full time job or classes. - Lots of contests and gratis gifts. I've only been here four months, and I've scored a very respectable amount of swag. - Tap the tester bottles whenever you want. My hands are so insanely soft, because I'm always putting on different lotions while I'm at work. - Super-friendly, vibrant co-workers... my co-workers are my favourite part of this job. - Inside scoop of what is going on sale (first dibs at Semi-Annual Sales! YES!!) - You ARE recognized for good sales - at least at my store! - Discount is usable at any Limited Brands store (such as Victoria's Secret). - Pay is electronic - either by direct deposit, or on a store-issued debit card. Fancy! - You have the option to have your W2 issued electronically. - If there's an emergency or scheduling conflict, there's almost always someone to cover your shift. Just ask well in advance, and don't abuse it!
Cons
- Not a lot of hours - hourly associate work can't be your primary source of income. - Minimum wage. I'd think this company could afford at least a quarter more on the hour. - Sales volume varies greatly. Some days are so busy that you don't get a chance to take your break. Other days are so slow that you want to break something, just to have something to do... you usually get to go home early on those days, but that does tend to cut into your paycheck. - 30% regular employee discount isn't all that great in-store - I've never used mine, because public promotions are almost always the better deal. I haven't went to VS to see if it's worth the bother there, though. - Shoplifting is a huge problem, so you are rather expected to hawk over customers. It's really awkward sometimes. - This hasn't happened in my region, as all of our stores have great communication, but I have heard shopping anywhere but your home store can be a BATTLE in some areas. (I avoid this by calling ahead to the other stores to let them know I'm dropping in to shop.)
