Great benefits and pay, great safety culture across company, great people to work with, great company overall to work for with pretty stable job.

Cons

Can be really long drives to the mine sites and really early hours to accommodate the schedules. The mining industry is a little scary right now with low gold prices.

The Worst is Yet to Come for Barrick

The US mines are well run and have very experienced and/or eager to learn employees.

Cons

Lower gold price and heaps of debt do not look good for the future of Barrick. They are selling off assets and employee morale has suffered significantly because of this coupled with pathetic politics. Top level exec's are micromanaging lower level employees and making the situation worse because they are pulling at straws instead of making informed decisions. Top Corporate management needs an overhaul. The mines are well run by experienced people and Corporate just gets in the way of efficient mine operations. The higher a monkey climbs the more you see of his behind.
