Pros

-Salary paid in time -not easy to lose job unless you make big mess ups .(.due to lack of good people staying in company for a long time) , can work here for a long time as long as you can shutup and not express your views (accept feedback/accept nonsense) even when you are right -can work well as long as you have a good rapport with your manager

Cons

-very disconnected/disordered company , nobody knows what is the right thing to do, and how to do anything properly , -perception created of employess as resources, they simply want the right no of people logged in and dont care about anything else.. -People who genuinely want to improve the work environment. find ways to do things better ,basically care about the barclays values(Stewardship, integrity ,etc) will be disappointed after sometime and find the place a farce -nothing is really in place, transport is rubbish, food at cafeteria is rubbish, even the rosters are not decided one week ahead, work schedules are changed on the same day and you cannot even be sure of your break timings, which are changed as per login requirement anytime. IT systems are rubbish , with monitors not working, keyboards missing many keys, software routinely hanging crashing. -Place is heading for doomsday as far as senior management goes , which is why I left after 3 years

Bullying is in the DNA

Pros

HQ offices are fantastic, great canteen and amazing views. Exciting environment while things are fine.

Cons

Bullying and harassment are daily fare. Salaries are at the low end of the market. long hours are expected and extra efforts are quickly forgotten. Raising the point that the workload is unreasonable and leads to long hours meets a 'work smarter not harder'. I experienced first hand bullying and harassment and know of two other former colleagues having been treated the same way without HR or upper management moving a finger. I raised a case with HR before resigning and it was only met by denial. Not a collaborative environment, a lot of back stabbing and politics. Brown nosing gets you farther than talent.

I am really sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us and felt unsupported. This is not the environment we would tolerate or want as it is very important to use that colleagues have fulfilling roles and careers and line managers who offer support and guidance.

Pros

1) Open 24 hours so you can choose to work overnight, normal hours, or swing shift 2) You have the opportunity to earn significantly more through bonuses and overtime 3) Your duties are straightforward so no real surprises each day 4) Decent benefits/retirement 5) Decent pay for the work you do 6) They try to cultivate a cool vibe by doing stuff like doing community service and playing games during shifts.

Cons

1) A lot of emphasis on productivity. Your job is to look at applications and determine if a person is credit worthy and how much they should be lent. You also take phone calls from customers needing a credit limit increase or a reconsideration on their denied application. You have to process a certain number of apps/calls each hour and it can be a real grind keeping up with the standards. 2) The hours suck. You'll most likely have to work 4 days a week for 10 hours. The extra day off is cool but the 10 hour shifts suck. 3) There's little room for growth. If you stick around for a while you may get job as a quality review person whose job is to make sure analysts make good lending decisions. You may also get a manager title but there are few of those jobs available. 4) Short lunches/breaks. You get two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. I'd rather have an hour lunch and no breaks but maybe that's just me. 5) It's a real grind. The number of apps/calls you have to work is no joke. It's a little better if you work night shift as there's less calls which usually take longer to work than apps. You most likely won't hit productivity standards your first few months there. Luckily you have a 3 month grace period to get things together.
