      Could be good but highly dependent on what group you are placed in

      Pros

      You get to work in financial capital of the world and there were are lot of activities outside of work to get involved with. You do learn things, that could be of use.

      Cons

      You are at the mercy of the group you are placed in which will either make or break your experience here. As much as HR will try, you will not always be placed in teams that will be of benefit to you or allow you to learn. This was really apparent as half of the interns on my intake were practically doing nothing and were stuck in limbo whilst the other half were actually given the opportunity to get on with things. This is primarily down to the way the bank is set up and operates.

      Barclaycard US internship program

      Pros

      Relaxed Environment. Great support and advice from upper level staff. Great culture. Really amazing internship program, fun events and lectures.

      Cons

      Not enough work as an intern. I know some interns had a heavier work load, but I really wasn't given enough work, even though I have the skills for it. I asked for more and was given some, but not enough to fill my time. Felt a bit like they were underestimating my skills, or they didn't trust me.

      Family-like office culture. Good foods. Relaxed working environment. Reasonable management.

      Limited opportunities for non-French speakers.
