Micro Managed and felt lied to.

Pros

Pay and benefits are nice, except when you consider the work environment. Those are the only pros I can think of.

Cons

Micro Managed. I worked for a Tulsa company that they took over. Many promises made, none of them kept. The more I hear from fellow employees that did make the move the happier I am I did not. They try to run every aspect of your life, I was shocked how invasive they were trying to get. Everything you read in these reviews about politics over substance is very very true!

Pros

I have worked for BMA (BHPBILLITON) since 2002. I have been a wages employee and a Staff employee since then. The remuneration is excellent. The bonus system is excellent. The employee share system is excellent. The education system they run is excellent. The support that is given to employees for the establishment of innovation is world class. When you take holidays into account I only spend less than 5 months of the year in the mine area with half of that at work.

Cons

Some personnel have never actually worked outside the mining industry and thus have no idea what it is like to work in the real world. This unfortunately skews their reality and affects the experiences they encounter.

Pros

Above average compensation/benefits compared to other Oil and Gas companies. Excellent bonus structure. Company seems to be very employee focused with a goal of attracting and keeping top talent. The cafeteria and $2 lunch are awesome!

Cons

Seem to be experiencing some growing pains. The shale division was formed basically from acquiring Petrohawk as well as a Chesapeake field. Transition and development of processes is ongoing. Technology and tools to do your job seem to be lagging behind the times and other companies. Getting software to do your job is a nightmare since it has to go through several layers to be allowed on your machine.
