      Pros

      Consistent raises each year. The pay is higher than at one of the big four firms. The clients are generally in the middle market range. Travelling is optional and you can specify the degree tow hich you wish to travel in you performance review each year. There are opportunities to travel all over the world in audit. It is fairly easy to transfer within the company as they are easy to deal with. The employees are great to work with and the partners are easy to get along with and respectful towards the employees at all levels of the organization.

      Cons

      BDO is a smaller firm and tends to have smaller clients. If you want to be dealing with huge, well known, companies all the time then you would be happier at one of the big four.

      Great mid-tier consulting firm to work for in order to improve and master your skills.

      Pros

      Ability to work independently due to client size, good pay, ability to work with other departments within the Consulting practice, great Senior Management expectations relating to Manager billable hours and excellent paid time off perks (3 years in a row with Dec 24-Jan1 off without using vacation days).

      Cons

      Compared to Big 4, BDO seemed to be behind in adapting to new audit practices as Partners were not always willing to retool their audit approach. As a Manager, was responsible for Senior and Staff level work (e.g., smaller clients with consulting projects often only required 1 consultant, which resulted in manager doing all levels of work).

      Pros

      Small atmosphere and helpful staff. Sometimes work was slow and there was nothing to do. Coworkers were friendly and helpful. It was a good learning experience. IT and technology was very impressive. The company had a nice flex program and gave lots of opportunities to work from home. Networking was easy. Lots of young people to work with. Upper management was easy to reach and accessible.

      Cons

      Lots of travel. Be prepared for fluctuating hours. Sometimes role was unclear. In this office, diversity was low. Not many minorities employed at all. Salary was a market rate and was not anything special. Career promotion track was typical of any public accounting firm.
