      Good work experience, environment, lots of hours, pay could be better

      Pros

      BDO is a growing company and I gained good auditing experience from them. You may have some small clients that allow you the gain the experience (and headache) of doing pretty much an entire audit by yourself. This can be a mess but in the end I've had the opportunity to work on many different facets instead of working for months on one area of a mega-huge corporation.

      Cons

      Pay seems to be less than big 4, hours seem to be more (longer duration of busy season), some people work considerably more than others

      Pros

      The people are intelligent, friendly and a pleasure to work with. The office is nice and usually well maintained. Free breakfast before 8.30 is a nice perk. Although less than the Big Four, pay is ok for the hours and the work performed. Genuine attempts to respect work-life balance, although they really worked out in practice. Training offered used to be very good but suffered a little when the company structure changed.

      Cons

      Staff morale was very low for about two years prior to be leaving. Although a rewards system was set up to help with issues with recognition, it's operation depended on who you worked with, as some managers used it all the time and others never touched it. I think this actually lowered morale because it meant that some people were getting little to no credit that other people were being rewarded handsomely for.

      Pros

      Large organization, well known brand, good internal marketing opportunities, good location, part of international organization, cool winter break, cool commercials on tv.

      Cons

      Cliquey, good core values are ignored/over-looked by senior management. Every-man-for-himself cuture. Heavy workload with no let up. Broken promises, don't keep their word, moving goals.
