Impossible to advance if you are not in the BASF internal development group.
Pros
Pay is at market average, or below. Benefits are market average or slightly below. BASF on resume is great for finding promotions at other companies. Requirements for advancement at BASF are a MBA, no experience, and good corporate lingo.
Cons
If you are not a PDP or LDP there is little to no chance of advancing at BASF. Experience and job performance does not apply when trying to advance, even if you have been top rated for several years. The goalposts will always move if you are not in BASF's internal 'development' group. Promotions are earned by leaving BASF, not staying. Company is bleeding talent so bad that there is an internal push to not communicate. All while silo'ing themselves to regional talent because there is a massive push to completely deny any kind of remote work. Stale bagels and cubicles is the corporate 'culture' here. Every two years (when leadership turns over) you can expect the company to evaluate their 'agility' or 'fitness.' This always leads to jobs being eliminated. If you are with the company long enough you can expect this to happen eventually. Whether you find a replacement job or not is not up to your performance or experience, rather, how well your direct manager will advocate for you for a replacement role.
