Pros

401K matching is better than any company I know Stable company

Cons

There is a large focus on attracting and retaining talent, but not enough training, growth opportunities, and responsibility are provided for the company to be a good place to start a career. Also, to move up in the company, you either need to be German or work in Germany.

It was like working in a Dilbert cartoon...

Pros

Big, financially sound company that is diversifying away from traditional, cyclical commodities to more of a specialty product focus. From a financial point of view, they are well run and profitable.

Cons

BASF Corp cares very little for their employees. The HR mantra "build the best team in the industry" is a joke. Benefits are consantly being slashed, salary increases at or below cost of living increases and unless you are a German, good luck advancing above a mid management position. The beauracracy there is out of control, it just amazes you that any work can get done. They are (rightfully) so concerned about anti-trust, that lawyers run the company. A terribly frustrating place to work.
