Pros

Treat employees well, pay well, great bonuses, good benefits,

Cons

Have engineers do a lot of PSM stuff that Process safety should do. Too many layers and jobs too divided up, career opportunities much better for non white males due to diversity goals

Pros

You get a chance to work with some very smart people that are willing to share their knowledge to help you succeed in your role. BASF is a very customer centric organization as such you will have a chance to interact with key customers. Benefits were standard, pay was above average for roles in similar industries. At the plant level, BASF very safety conscious and for the most part concerned about its employees well being.

Cons

BASF is a highly political and bureaucratic organization, it takes a long time to get anything approved (projects, process, or equipment). Decision making is top down and not collaborative. Many groups work in silos which makes sharing best practices across business units or sites difficult. Contractors are treated like second class citizens in the plant environment. Work life balance is often talked about but on a plant level be prepared to work 50 - 60 hr weeks plus calls which can lead to low morale at the plant Personal development is at the descrition of your immediate manager or supervisor; if he or she is not on the same page as you be prepared to be denied access to certain classes or activities. Performance evaluations are highly political, you can have a great review one year and then be expected to "take one for the team" the following year pending business unit performance.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, nice coworkers

Cons

Management was disrespectful to employees. More people were hired than were needed with the intent to fire people during their six month probationary period It was incredible stressful..
