The usual pros/cons of a bigger company

Pros

Competitive salaries, training programs, benefits (sabbaticals, on-site gym, dogs at the office if you work in San Rafael and you're into that), etc. Also a fair amount of telecommuting / work from home options depending on the group you're in. Lots of very smart people. Great place to learn how a channel-driven business model works.

Cons

Hard to move up......as often happens at larger companies, the only way to get ahead is to leave - very difficult to get promoted from within. Also typical of larger companies is that decisions take a long time to get made and not always clear how/who is making the decision.

Pros

C-staff are inspiring and motivating Work from home on Fridays Game room but not easily accessible Variety of interesting products Overarching business strategy towards cloud and subscription is encouraging Always something to do

Cons

Middle management struggles to lead, inspire and not as tech-savvy as they should be. Conservative about trying new technology Little encouragement to innovate Very matrix-ed and organizationally spread out making it difficult to complete a project in timely fashion Heavy emphasis on meetings Work/ life balance difficult to maintain Political - focused on the how something gets done vs. what gets accomplished
