Pros

Autodesk pays reasonably well and has good benefits, such as the employee stock program and pension plan. It is an interesting place to work with some very clever and engaging people (although, be prepared to work with people who get by without merit, too). The software and technology that Autodesk creates leads industries and is a big enabler for innovative creation in the world. When you think about the fact that you are part of that, it is pretty special.

Cons

Unless you work in the US your chances of meaningful corporate progression are poor. Travel budget for teams outside of sales is minimal so the opportunity to get in front of senior managers or influential leaders is much more difficult for people that live in Europe. You have to really really hard to make sure business leaders even know your name. Additionally, if you work in Europe and spend time working with US employees, be prepared for a poor work/life balance. You will get nothing done if you don't make yourself flexible to CA, and if you get nothing done you don't get noticed, leading us back to the point above. Finally, training is practically none-existent. I feel like I've actually lost skills since I have been here due to having to learn how to manage the corporate climate over real strategy and marketing.

Pros

If you work for Autodesk, you will be well taken care of. The pay is good, the people you work with are fascinating, and the perks are many. Work/life balance depends on your manager, but overall, there seems to be an effort to help people balance their work for their own situation. Every four years, you are eligible for a six-week sabbatical. Besides that, you get Christmas Eve through New Years Day off so you can focus on spending times with your loved ones. Working during vacations, sabbaticals, and the week of rest is generally frowned upon. Work from home is allowed. One of the coolest things about working with Autodesk is that you are empowering the people who will change the world. That's really cool when you think about it.

Cons

Autodesk is huge, so it may take some time to find the information (or person) you are looking for. If you are self-motivated, you'll find what you are looking for. There are politics, sure, but if you have more than two people, you'll have politics. Some people check out once they walk in the office, which can be disheartening to see. This has a lot to do with their managers, and again, is part of human nature. That doesn't have to be your story.
