Think Twice

Pros

Always push and support new ideas Try it and present your results Don't be afraid to order your reagents, as long as they will be used for your work "Apparent social work " is very supported by the Senior Leadership

Cons

Think twice if you are ready to join AZ. The managers (Lab) manage to be very powerful . They (managers) realize AZ is first a Lab company. Without their work - results- products , AZ will probably not exist. Lab managers in fact are not managers. They are first Scientists turn in to managers. THIS IS ONE Of THE REAL PROBLEM of AZ especially for the lab. HR of AZ don't have a say - HR is there to support the lab managers not the EMPLOYEES who in reality is working hard to make the data available and for future key decisions.. Last -Management ALWAYS PROMOTE the same people over and over (same names every other 3 years). You end up create unnecessary tension and destroy the work environment you and the Leadership are trying and working HARD to promote. This is one on the biggest weakness of AZ - Unfortunately the Senior Leadership faint to not see.

Pros

Very good company for starters, Product based company, Worldwide known company Product-based company (Once upon a time)

Cons

Product-based company (Once upon a time) and now it has become Politics based company. If your Line Manager doesn't like you personally and/or professionally, then you will be fired from the company slowly, by hiding your delivered projects and will assign either very old legacy applications or the applications that are not working fine, just to make you out for that year. Still, AZ uses 19th-century technologies in its applications and not ready to adapt to new emerging technologies. While recruiting you will be tested and asked questions from the very latest technologies but after getting into the company you will be asked to work or deliver the very old technologies and they never bother to migrate it to new technology. So, Managers can start playing games using this legacy applications to corner their employees for which Higher officials and HR will support it. If any persons wrongly configures the application then punish the person as per AZ Ethics and don't keep the blame on the other employee who have not worked on that application

AZ-Medi reorg a mess. Waltham is fading.

Pros

Benefits are ok - average for a global pharma working in Massachusetts.

Cons

Waltham site is increasingly leased out. Center-of-mass in US is Gaithersburg, especially post-Medi integration (which has been going for a year now). Career progression is very slow. Management promises change then slow walks everything like they are saving money.
