Pros

-I worked as a cashier at an on-mountain restaurant on Snowmass. -The job was super fun and I loved skiing down from work everyday, I had great coworkers -The customers tipped well (thankfully, because without that we would not be making enough money to get by)

Cons

-Ski Co management/higher-ups is the worst and doesn't care really about their employees - they mostly just care about their bottom line. -At one point during Covid basically all my coworkers and I got Covid and they made it pretty hard for us to miss work, even though we were sick. This was when Pitkin County, CO (where Aspen is) had the highest Covid rates of any county in the U.S., after Christmas 2021. During omicron when a lot of people were getting false negatives with the nasal swabs, they wouldn't pay us for our time missed unless we got a positive test, so you basically had to either risk exposing customers to your Covid symptoms, or miss out on pay. -In general, Ski Co just cares about optimizing their own profits and not about the well-being of employees. There are not nearly enough affordable housing options that they offer, and the pay is pretty minimal for the cost of living in the area (which is super high). Right now, they're severely understaffed because no one can afford to live here - and many of these restaurant workers are making $13/hour and commuting an hour to get to work because they can't afford to live near town.
