Pros

Benefits are excellent. A chance to work on and shape some of the most interesting, high-end technology on the planet. A chance to collaborate with some of the smartest engineers around. Some teams are truly exceptional, choose wisely.

Cons

Some toxic enclaves where micromanagement is rife from incompetent managers who blame problems on others rather than take responsibility. People team know about problem teams, but doing little to address it. Recent changes to appraisal process allows managers to surround themselves with 'yes men'. Psychological safety talked about, but absent in many places.

Pros

The pay for hours worked is quite good

Cons

Complete mess internally. Questionable hiring practices from mandated DEI quotas HR can sometimes hire someone into your team without you knowing, people hiring personal friends, spouses, family members has put the company into a toxic situation. People with skills and knowledge are harder to come by each year, seriously following a similar path to Intel. These people are in it for the long haul and always paranoid and defensive and trying to claim success but never put themselves out in front and take the risks. Most won't get an opportunity like this again to squander and many know the layoff is coming sooner or later. A lot have made it to positions line managing technical staff and the hiring bar drops as they don't want to be at risk of being discovered as useless. Company is overvalued so reward will heavily reduce in the future. Right now it's the honeymoon phase.

Pros

Brilliant colleagues to work with

Cons

- Very strict in-office requirements. It's strange to not allow remote working when we're in a global team working in different locations already. - Some managers tend to overstep their boundaries and micro-manage on minor things, but lose sight on the bigger picture. - No clear path of career progression. Most managers are disinterested in helping their line reports progress. - Poor facilities including tea/coffee & food provision. Prices are way too high for what it is.
