Pros

Good opportunities to do some interesting work. Great people who give their best all the time under stressful conditions at times. Company is going through a growth period and appears to be making efforts to nurture it's people. Reasonable working environement. Great local community improvement schemes and charity support.

Cons

Compensation is not so competitive anymore. Bonuses are OK but not reflective of hard work put in to achieve them. Starting to feel less like an engineering company. With the constant focus on cost reductions the value of some engineering has been degraded or cast aside. In the past this work has enabled better quality products & experiences for customers. We're in danger of becoming short sighted and losing the bigger picture.

Thanks for leaving a review, and for your over 10 years of service! Like you mentioned, the company has grown quite substantially and quickly over the last few years and we do need to be cognizant of what got ARM to where it is today - the engineers. We are putting in processes in place to ensure that the company continues to grow while making the work environment an enjoyable one. In regards to compensation, the Rewards team completed a company wide analysis, and employees should now be placed in the 75% band, meaning your base salary will be higher than 75% of your peers in the relative market (location, function). Once you factor in bonuses and RSUs, the total compensation package is quite competitive. Do know that I do pass on the feedback from Glassdoor reviews to the People leadership team, which are factored in along with the ARM Employee Engagement survey to determine where we may need to address certain issues. We would love to hear your feedback again (employees can leave a review once a year) next year to see if we have improved, or still need to improve! -Rick C. Social Recruiting Manager

Let down by poor culture in certain teams

Pros

+ Arm is an exciting company to work for and are doing really innovative work in the AI and wider tech space. + Salary and benefits are excellent. + There is flexibility in terms of where you work with many working from home 3-4 days a week. + You’ll get to work with a number of smart and collaborative people.

Cons

The culture at Arm is highly fragmented and very much driven by individual managers and teams. Some are lucky enough to have great managers, teams, and work culture, but that wasn’t the case for me. A little about my experience working in external comms: + Many cliques exist between employees who have been there for a number of years making it very difficult for new hires to feel part of the group. Not enough effort is made to make new hires feel welcome and integrate in the team and interactions can feel very superficial and disingenuous. Too much pressure is placed on new hires to drive integration into the existing team. + There’s a face fits mentality where there is an expectation for you to change who you are to fit in rather than being accepted as you are. + Employees are promoted into managerial roles who do not have the right skills to be managers and are not given any support or training to develop those skills. This leads to managers feeling insecure and adopting a micromanagement style approach to compensate, out of fear that you might outshine them. + Existing or established ways of working are enforced with little to no flexibility to accommodate those whose approach may be different, even when there is clearly improvements or efficiencies to be made. + Feedback is routinely ignored with significant effort made to gaslight anyone who points out issues, even when they have alternative suggestions. + Favouritism is rife with some securing roles because of who they already know in the team and then being protected by senior management when problems are raised with their conduct or approach. + Performance is used as a mechanism to punish employees who raise concerns senior management don’t want to address. Threats of performance plans are how they force you out of the business,

Pros

Fair work-life balance. Better than the industry average flexibility in hybrid work.

Cons

Chaotic line-management structure that allows abusive or incompetent managers to be unaccountable. A nepotistic career progression mentality that values personal favouritism instead of impact and standing out from the crowd. No tolerance even for high-functioning neurodivergent individuals, their boasting for DEI is all talk and just for show. Conservative decision making at the project level, established methodologies are impossible to progress away from. Un-balanced project schedules involve hectic periods before releases followed by periods with little work. Cost-cutting in workplace offices and food offers. Lack of transparency on executive decisions.
